Before the stairs were changed the master bedroom was on the other side of the house. The stairs came up in the middle/back of the house and the bigger bedroom was to the left with the smaller bedroom to the right, and a boiler cupboard straight ahead on the landing.
As we just moved from a 5 bedroomed house it’s a tight squeeze but also very cosy. The boys had to share bunkbeds at first but were only 7 and 5 so it wasn’t too much of a problem, although getting them to sleep was difficult as they were so excited.
Putting a dormer across the back of the roof aswell as moving the landing meant the master bedroom had room for the bed, a dressing area and an ensuite bathroom. It’s small but perfectly formed and I love my little sanctuary.
The bed is at the back of the house in the new space created by the dormer. I had to downsize to a king size bed from a superking in order to fit both bedside tables in. We had to get the bed out of the window aperture before putting the new window in, and cut the headboard down to size.
My desk is at the end of the bed and the wardrobe is in the dressing area to the right of the bed before the ensuite shower room.
Moving the staircase created an extra square meter of space in the master bedroom making this layout viable and enabling the addition of a third bedroom by cutting the original master bedroom in two.
