RENOVATING

Bricks & Blocks

23 July 2018

It’s been a scorching hot summer and I felt sorry for the guys working in the heat but they were really good-natured and I kept them topped up with drinks.  We even had a gin one afternoon…

The walls were built over 4 weekends as the guys work full-time, so I was very grateful for them giving up their weekends to work in the heat.  They said they really enjoyed the project which was nice and I hope I will work with them again.

We needed a new skip but all the bricks and blocks were in front of it, bugger!  Only took me 7 hours to move them all…

My eldest’s room was boarded up in 3 sections.  One for his new window, one for the wall and one to form part of the kitchen wall to house the central heating and pipework for the sink and the washer…

There’s still space for my blanket so I can sleep and read magazines whilst the guys work.  I’m not doing a great deal at the moment (except living in a squat), but I will be working my tail off when the rooms are ready for painting.  There will be lots of cleaning and moving furniture around too (can’t wait).

Neil came round on Friday evening to move all the bricks into the back garden so they can really crack on tomorrow…

Starting to be able to see what the view will look like…This looks like a pantomime set LOL…Too many bricks, need to break this wall up with an outside light and planter…Neil & Chad hard at work…

Lintel has finally gone in (progress)…Forming the structure for the roof window which we have put up near the living room to let in light…
